sound bites body
since 2012
Hosts in the Blue Mountains: The Paragon Cafe, The Beachcomber, Modern Art Project's WEST Project Space, The Ol' Skool House, The Attic at Hotel Blue, Nathan Robinson and Tina Stratigos's converted church home, Bilpin International Ground for Creative Initiatives.
To contribute to the dialogue between practitioners and audience in The Blue Mountains, and other Australian and international performers, WeiZen initiated Sound Bites in 2012.
She continues to curate and facilitate this event, now called Sound Bites Body, which is focused on improvisational practice, extended use of body, voice, objects and instruments. Originally conceived as a monthly event at The Paragon's Cafe Cocktail Lounge, it has moved into the intimacy of home properties (The Beachcomber, Nathan and Tina's) and alternate project venues (The Ol' Skool House and WEST Project Space through Modern Art Projects).
Sound Bites #20 - May 2015
Alex Gooding commented: " Sound Bites' performance at WEST artist-run space in Hazelbrook (2nd May 2015) warmed up a cold wet day in more ways than one. It was a fascinating and description-defying mixture of sound, dance and performance - and did I mention miso broth-making and harmonograph drawings?.
Performers were Ash Baker (deep insdustrial sound waves, Mayu Kanamori/Terumi Narushima (AWASE MISO performance), WeiZen Ho (sound-body-objects), Linda Luke (dance), Zeb Olsen (electric guitar), Alan Schacher (body, props) and Gary Warner (harmonograph)."
